No-exam life insurance
Accelerated underwriting requirements, operational details, and how your options change if you are ineligible.
Many carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants within specific age brackets and benefit limits, the carrier renders a decision based on the completed application, pharmacy records, driving history and other information without a paramedical examination. Determinations may be made within hours. Each quote on this platform indicates whether an exam is mandatory, possible, or unnecessary for each specific product.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not bypass the underwriting process itself. Applicant statements are validated, and a policy awarded based on false information can be challenged for up to two years. If the carrier's verification process raises concerns, they may request an exam or laboratory tests; you retain the option to decline and withdraw.
Who tends to qualify
Generally people younger than roughly 60, requesting amounts within the carrier's fast-track limits, with no significant health history and no tobacco use in the previous year. Applicants with recent physician visits including lab results may be able to substitute those results in place of a new exam.
An exam, when necessary, usually runs 20 to 30 minutes at a location of your choice—typically your residence or Lancaster-area workplace—performed by a paramedic at no charge. In many cases, exam findings result in a better rate classification for applicants in good health, so the exam requirement is often advantageous rather than detrimental.
